A Multimedia Exploration of the Story of Vulcan, Blending Film, Poetry, Sound, Music, Art and Science
A key member of the Cradle of Fire team, Australian musicologist and composer Kim Cunio‘s interests encompass every aspect of sound. This leads to experimental and environmental recordings, sounds of industry, machinery and the spoken word, as well as evocative aural happenings.
His fascination for music, beats, tone and timbre runs through spontaneous noises and rhythms through to carefully crafted compositions and organised songs.
The team is also engaged with other soundscape creators, musicians, melody makers, singers and percussionists with contributions crossing from opera through to heavy metal (in every respect – from the recording studio to the forge!) Some of these are being integrated into film, breathing fire into soundtracks that include the fusion of 80s electronica music with original audio created with Sheffield-made tools and implements.
