Carolyn Waudby

Carolyn Waudby is a journalist and poet. She received an MA in Writing from Sheffield Hallam and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

As a journalist, Carolyn specialises in the arts, culture and travel. Her articles have appeared in The Yorkshire Post, easyjet Traveller and Britain and other national and international publications.

She lectures at Sheffield Hallam University where she was key to the creation of a magazine pathway on the journalism degree, and in the accreditation of the course by the industry body The Professional Publishers’ Association.

Her poetry is published by leading journals and literary magazines including Magma, Mslexia, Staple, Other Poetry, Haiku Quarterly, The Reader and DreamCatcher. In 2017 she was selected by Eyewear as one of their Best New British and Irish Poets.

In her capacity as a poet she specialises in collaborations with artists and has organised exhibitions and performances for Off The Shelf Festival and The University of Sheffield’s Festival of the Mind in addition to one-off self-generated events. Apus, a collection of poetry inspired by the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was published by The Red Ceilings Press in 2020.
